Tree Removal
January 13, 2025
After careful consideration, research and conversations between the OCMPD, the District's Engineer, the District's Pond Management Company and the Texas Agricultural Extension, the District will be removing the willow trees on the northwest side of the Whitter Pond starting this week. Upon removal, the District's Pond Management company will be treating the stumps to prohibit future growth and will closely monitor and treat the pond's bench for any invasive species in the future. Willow trees are considered an invasive species at wet ponds and can cause damage to the clay liner installed within the pond. In an effort to keep the clay liner free of damage, the removal of the trees was necessary.
